Atari Hotels Project Status (as of January 21, 2026)
Table of Contents
The planned expansion of Atari Hotels has largely stalled, with most locations outside of Phoenix canceled or indefinitely delayed as of January 2026.
Initial plans envisioned hotels in multiple cities, but progress has been limited. The original Las Vegas project faced significant setbacks and was ultimately canceled. The company continues to pursue a project in Phoenix, though its opening date has been repeatedly pushed back.
Initial Expansion Plans and cancellations
Atari initially announced plans for hotels in Austin,Chicago,Denver,San Francisco,San Jose, and Seattle, along with las Vegas and Phoenix. These plans have not progressed, and are no longer publicly discussed.
The Las vegas project, originally slated to open in 2020,encountered financial difficulties and ultimately failed to materialize. The project was officially canceled in 2023 due to funding issues and a change in ownership.
Phoenix Project and Current Status
The Phoenix Atari Hotel, now under the management of Intersection Development, represents the remaining active project. As of January 19, 2026, the planned grand opening is scheduled for late 2028, a significant delay from the original 2022 expectation.
Despite the continued pursuit of the Phoenix location, the timeline remains uncertain. The project’s future depends on securing necessary funding and completing construction.
Atari’s Search for Land Partners
Following the departure of a key partner, Atari continued seeking land partners throughout 2024 to revive the hotel project. However, as of late 2024, Atari had been unable to secure a new deal to move forward with additional locations.
This lack of progress suggests significant challenges in attracting investment and securing suitable locations for the Atari Hotels brand.
