ATR 42-500 Crash: Hope for a Miracle
JAKARTA – Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency (basarnas) confirmed Tuesday that no survivors were found after an ATR 42-500 aircraft crashed in Maros, South Sulawesi.
Basarnas chief Air Marshal TNI M Syafi’i answered reporters’ questions about teh possibility of survivors. “There are none,” he said at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta. “We were still hoping for a miracle, for survivors, but so far, nothing.”
Syafi’i acknowledged the grim reality but held onto a sliver of hope, recalling a previous aircraft crash where a passenger was found alive after initially appearing lifeless.
“There was a case where a passenger was in a comatose state, what some call ‘clinically dead,’ but they survived,” he said.
