San Diego Manhunt: Attempted Murderer Escapes Re-entry Program

Authorities in San Diego County are searching for Justin Drake, 29, who escaped from a prisoner re-entry program Tuesday night. Drake was serving time for attempted second-degree murder. the California Department of Corrections reported that Drake tampered with his ankle monitor before fleeing.
Drake is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was initially imprisoned in 2017 following his conviction in Orange County. While incarcerated, he was also found guilty of assault. Drake had been scheduled for release at the end of the year.
Officials with the re-entry program stated that historically, the vast majority—99 percent—of individuals who leave such programs without authorization are eventually apprehended.
Law enforcement officials are advising the public not to approach Drake if he is seen. Instead, they urge people to contact the police immediately.
