London—british authorities have launched a nationwide police operation to track down members of child sex gangs who sexually exploited young girls across England from the late 1990s to the early 2010s,the Home Office announced Sunday.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) will lead the operation, collaborating with local police forces, according to a ministry statement. The initiative will also reopen previously closed investigations. Prime Minister Keir Starmer had previously favored local inquiries but recently voiced support for a national probe.
The Home Office stated that the operation aims to bring justice to more survivors of grooming gangs. Justice Minister Yvette Cooper said, “Vulnerable young girls, exploited in unimaginable ways, are now valiant women rightly demanding justice.”
