Celebrated live from the Marial Sanctuary Notre-Dame de Thierenbach in Jungholtz (68)

On this weekend of August 15, Lord’s day Lays his suitcases at the Marial Sanctuary of Thierenbach, in Haut-Rhin. A Clunisian priory was founded there in 1130 and the monks remained there until the Revolution. The monastery, destroyed during the Thirty Years War, was rebuilt around 1720 in the Baroque style. Today, Thierenbach is an important pilgrimage center where the faithful come from all over Alsace, but also from abroad. A legend says that children near a stream would have seen an image of the Virgin in the water. The many ex-votos offered in thanks to the Virgin and who line the walls of the basilica bear witness to the marine devotion of the place.
