Junior forward Nace Langus scored two goals during a four-goal first period on October 23, 2026, propelling the Augustana hockey team to a 4-3 victory and a weekend sweep over Ohio State at the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, Ohio, goaugie.com reported.
The win marks the first series sweep of a Big Ten team in program history for Augustana, which improves its record to 5-0-1 and places the team among just four unbeaten Division I programs, according to siouxfallslive.com.
Vikings Seize Control in Opening Frame
Augustana dominated the first period by capitalizing on defensive pressure and special teams. Nace Langus opened the scoring unassisted at 7:10 after forcing a turnover at the blue line in the defensive zone, according to siouxfallslive.com. Shortly after, Nathan McBrayer drew a tripping penalty, and Leonid Bulgakov converted on the power play at 10:21 with assists from Brett Meerman and Siamion Marshchanok. Bulgakov’s tally marked his sixth goal in as many games, making him one of the nation’s top goal scorers.
Tyler Hennen added a third goal at 14:57 during a scramble in front of the net off passes from Owen Baumgartner and Easton Young. Just 24 seconds later, Langus secured his second goal of the period by finishing off a two-on-one rush fed by Cole Burtch, with Owen Bohn adding the secondary assist. The flurry of scoring prompted Ohio State to pull starting goaltender Kristoffer Eberly, who surrendered four goals on nine shots, and insert Jakub Milota for the remainder of the period.

Buckeyes Fight Back in Final Two Periods
Ohio State mounted a comeback in the second and third periods, outshooting the Vikings and generating persistent offensive zone pressure. Ryan Rucinski put the Buckeyes on the board at 8:49 of the second period with a power-play goal assisted by Felix Caron and Sascha Boumedienne. Goalie Mathis Langevin turned away 21 shots to secure the win for Augustana.
In the final period, Ohio State utilized an extra attacker to narrow the deficit. Rucinski scored at 15:52 off feeds from Max Montes and Jake Karabela. With 55.6 seconds remaining, Benjamin Wilmott added another extra-attacker goal off assists from Karabela and Boumedienne to pull the Buckeyes within 4-3. Augustana preserved the victory in the waning seconds when Brett Meerman blocked Boumedienne’s final shot.
Ohio State is headed to the box.
