Tang takes the leadership post after a major management transition that also installs Ryan Cole as Chief Operating Officer and Michael Hearne as Chief Financial Officer, principal financial officer, and principal accounting officer.

Board Chair Kevin Tang Takes Zero Compensation as New Executives Join

Tang has a long background in life sciences investing and biotech leadership. Alongside his appointment, he has elected to receive no salary, bonuses, equity awards, or other compensation from Aurinia.

Meanwhile, incoming Chief Operating Officer Ryan Cole and Chief Financial Officer Michael Hearne each receive a $300,000 annual base salary. Their compensation packages include a target bonus equal to 50 percent of base salary and a new hire option to purchase 150,000 Aurinia common shares.

Prior Officers Step Down as Management Structure Shifts

The executive shakeup took effect on March 20, 2026, when prior officers ceased serving in their roles. The outgoing leadership team includes Chief Executive Officer Peter Greenleaf, Chief Operating Officer Matthew Donley, Chief Medical Officer Gregory Keenan, and Chief Financial Officer Joseph Miller.

Following his departure as CEO, Greenleaf resigned from the Board on March 21, 2026. To assist with the handover, Greenleaf will consult for the company for three months at an hourly rate of $600.

Craig Johnson Assumes New Lead Independent Director Role

Alongside the executive appointments, the Aurinia Board created a new Lead Independent Director position. Current independent director Craig Johnson was elected to fill the role.

Johnson’s responsibilities will focus on coordinating independent director activities. He will also serve as the primary liaison between the independent board members, the Chair, and senior management.
