The project, managed by Laurie Thering of the City of Austin’s Capital Delivery Department, cost $25 million and was funded by the 2020 Mobility Bond.

“I don’t think there’s another one like it in the country,” Thering responded. “It’s unique. It’s safe. It’s connectivity.”
The central plaza includes benches, bicycle parking, and fast-growing vines designed to provide shade. A fully illuminated underpass allows pedestrians and cyclists to safely pass under South Pleasant Valley Road, connecting to the new bridge. The project delivers a complete, uninterrupted loop around Lady Bird Lake, and Thering confirmed the project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
“We are four months ahead of schedule and under budget,” Thering stated.
The public will have the opportunity to experience the bridge firsthand and enjoy scenic views of the lake and Austin skyline during the grand opening celebration this Saturday, . The event will run from 10:00 a.m. To 12:30 p.m. At 115 S Pleasant Valley Road.
