Avatar Creators Announce New Series: Last Airbender Characters Return

Did you ever watch Avatar:‍ The Last Airbender ‌ and think, “Wouldn’t it be cool to have some sort of spin-off about Suki and the Kyoshi‍ Warriors?” If⁢ the ‍answer is yes, you’re in luck.

Collaborating with Avatar Studios and Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators⁣ Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan⁢ Konietzko, Dark Horse Comics presents Avatar: The⁣ Last Airbender – ‌Kyoshi Warriors. While both Suki and the kyoshi Warriors played a special part in Avatar’s three-season‌ run, there’s⁤ always going to ⁢be some fans ⁣who ‌want to see more of them.

The series,‌ featuring cover art by Danielle Weires, is writen by Brandon Hoáng (The Crossbow of Destiny), illustrated by BellBessa (Avatar: The Last Airbender-Ramen Rumble) and Xanthe Bouma,‌ colored by Adele Matera (Avatar: The Last Airbender-Ashes of the Academy), and lettered by‍ Comicraft’s Jimmy Betancourt (Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest). It follows ⁤Suki and the ⁢Kyoshi Warriors as they leave ⁤their island home to join the war against the Fire Nation.

Sadly for Suki ⁤and her Kyoshi Warrior⁤ sisters, they⁤ are met with suspicion and resentment by the mainlanders, and even worse, the‌ group struggles to prove themselves to the Earth Kingdom. But not all is ‍lost: an ‍prospect arises that coudl raise their esteem. whether they’re willing to ⁤rise to that challenge,‌ however, remains to be seen.

From ⁢the comic’s description, we can infer that ⁣this new series will be set during season 2, when Aang ‍and Team Avatar are traveling to the Earth⁤ Kingdom ⁤to find an earthbending teacher. Whether this means we’ll see Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Toph ⁣is a mystery, but considering the comic’s focus on Suki and the‍ Kyoshi Warriors, we suspect any appearance will be relegated to a ⁢small ‌cameo.

This story⁤ will⁣ be‍ told across three monthly single-issue comics, with the first one arriving in May this year. Each issue will contain 22 pages and be available for $4.99. If you’re a ⁤fan of Avatar and Suki, then run, not ⁢walk, to ⁢your local comic shop⁤ and get your⁤ pre-order in.
