Avengers: Doomsday Trailer: CinemaCon Preview and Release Date

The first trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” was unveiled at CinemaCon on April 16, 2026, marking Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new role as the villainous Doctor Doom.

Downey introduced the footage during the Disney presentation at CinemaCon, where he was joined on stage by Chris Evans, who reprised his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in the film. The two actors shared a moment of playful tension, referencing their past on-screen rivalry in “Captain America: Civil War.”

According to reports from the event, Downey teased the audience by saying, “What I want to do is give away, like, 37,000 spoilers right now. Should I, just for fun?” before clarifying that he would instead show fresh footage. He described Doctor Doom as “wildly epic, to say the least.”

Evans addressed his return to the MCU after stepping away following “Avengers: Endgame” in 2019, stating, “I said I would only come back for a real reason, and in ‘Doomsday’ there is a very real reason that these superheroes need Steve Rogers.” He added, “I love you, Downey, but this guy – I don’t like him,” referring to Downey’s portrayal of Doctor Doom.

The trailer featured appearances by several key Marvel characters, including the Fantastic Four, Shang-Chi (played by Simu Liu), Gambit (played by Channing Tatum), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), who was shown battling Doctor Doom. Captain America was also depicted calling upon Thor’s hammer Mjolnir once more.
