Monitoring and Virus Types
The ministry of Health’s preventive medicine teams are actively monitoring viruses both domestically and internationally. Current data indicates that H1N1 seasonal influenza is the most prevalent virus circulating in Egypt.
Dr. Taj El-Din clarified that the strains circulating in Egypt differ from those in Europe, specifically noting the presence of H3N2 in European regions. He emphasized that scientific data, including case numbers, infection duration, and recovery rates, confirm the absence of a widespread threat.
Reassurance for students and Families
Dr. Taj El-Din directly reassured students and their families, stating, “Don’t be afraid. There is no epidemic or danger to our children.” He noted that most infections are mild and resolve quickly with adequate rest and appropriate treatment.
