According to the AWS News Blog, the GPT-5.6 Luna model now costs $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens, while prices for GPT-5.6 Terra decreased by 20%.

These price adjustments apply automatically to users of the Bedrock service. The reduction positions GPT-5.6 Luna as one of the most affordable frontier-class models currently available on the platform, the AWS News Blog reports.

AWS Interconnect General Availability for Oracle Cloud

AWS Interconnect is now generally available for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), according to the AWS News Blog. This purpose-built multicloud connectivity product allows users to provision private, scalable connections between AWS and OCI without routing traffic over the public internet.

The service is designed to support multicloud architectures that require specific security and performance standards for cross-cloud networking, the company states.

CloudWatch and IAM Identity Center Updates

Amazon CloudWatch added support for managed Prometheus collectors, which allows for the collection of Prometheus metrics from AWS infrastructure. The AWS News Blog notes that this enables monitoring for Amazon EKS, Amazon EC2, Amazon ECS, Amazon MSK, and Amazon OpenSearch Service workloads without the need to deploy or manage separate agents.

AWS IAM Identity Center has extended multi-Region support to the Identity Center directory. Users can now replicate the directory from a primary AWS Region to additional Regions. According to the AWS News Blog, this ensures users maintain access to AWS accounts via provisioned entitlements in secondary Regions if the primary Region experiences a disruption.

This replication capability was previously limited to instances connected to external identity providers.

Data Management and S3 Tables Enhancements

Amazon S3 Tables now supports the Variant data type for the Apache Iceberg V3 table format specification. The AWS News Blog describes Variant as a native solution for managing semi-structured data, such as application logs and IoT sensor data, within a data lake without using JSON blobs.

In related data streaming updates, AWS announced that Apache Kafka data can be delivered to streaming tables for Apache Iceberg using Amazon MSK Express brokers. This configuration supports throughput of up to 10 GB/s for delivery to Apache Iceberg on Amazon S3 Tables, according to the AWS News Blog.

Developer Tools and Model Deployment

The AWS Developer Tools team released a guide for installing and updating the AWS CLI using single-line commands across different platforms. The update aims to simplify version management for teams and CI pipelines, the AWS News Blog reports.

AWS also provided a deployment workflow for Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3 model. The guide details how to deploy the model using Amazon SageMaker HyperPod and Amazon EKS for large-scale infrastructure needs, according to the AWS News Blog.
