Axl Rose Mic Toss: Injury Prompts Change
Axl Rose Ends Microphone Toss after Fan Injury Concern
Axl Rose, the frontman for Guns N’ Roses, is discontinuing a concert tradition spanning three decades: tossing his microphone into the crowd. This change comes after a recent show in Adelaide, Australia, where a fan may have been injured.
Rose addressed the situation on social media, stating that the band does not want anyone hurt at their shows. For 30 years, the microphone toss was a familiar part of the performance, with fans aware of the opportunity to catch it. Now, concert safety takes priority.
The Guns N’ Roses singer also thanked fans for their understanding regarding this concert safety adjustment. He added that some reports framed the issue negatively and irresponsibly, misrepresenting the band’s intentions.
“If true, obviously we don’t want anyone getting hurt or to somehow in any way hurt anyone at any of [our] shows anyway,” Rose said in a note he tweeted. “Having tossed the mic at the end of [our] show for over 30 years we always felt it was a known part of the very end of [our] performance that fans wanted and were aware of to have an opportunity to catch the mic.”
What’s next
Guns N’ Roses will continue their tour with enhanced focus on concert safety measures, ensuring a secure environment for all attendees.
