Chicago, IL - The Chicago Bulls charged past the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday night, securing a decisive 139-124 victory fueled by Ayo Dosunmu‘s first career triple-double.
Dosunmu, the second-year guard, erupted for 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, showcasing his all-around brilliance and leading the Bulls to their second straight win.
“[Dosunmu] was phenomenal tonight,” said Bulls head coach Billy Donovan. “He controlled the tempo, made smart decisions, and really impacted the game on both ends of the floor.”
The Bulls dominated from the opening tip, outscoring the Spurs 40-28 in the first quarter. Nikola Vučević continued his stellar play,pouring in 39 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. DeMar DeRozan added 23 points, while Zach LaVine chipped in with 18.
Despite a valiant effort from Keldon Johnson,who led the Spurs with 34 points,San Antonio struggled to keep pace with Chicago’s offensive firepower. The Bulls shot a blistering 57.1% from the field and connected on 15 three-pointers.
“We just couldn’t get stops tonight,” said spurs coach Gregg Popovich. “Chicago played with a lot of energy and made us pay for our mistakes.”
The win improves the Bulls’ record to 12-10, while the Spurs fall to 8-14. Chicago will look to extend their winning streak Friday night against the Orlando Magic, while San Antonio will host the Memphis Grizzlies.
