Azealia Banks Demands $1 Million From Matty Healy After‍ Online Feud

Rapper Azealia Banks has issued a cease-and-desist letter to The 1975 frontman Matty Healy,demanding a public apology and $1 million in damages following a heated exchange on X (formerly Twitter).

The feud erupted last week when Healy criticized Banks for​ comments she made about pop star Charli XCX’s appearance.

Banks shared a screenshot of the legal document on X Sunday, before it ⁤was‌ removed on Monday for violating platform rules.The letter, obtained by NBC News, accuses Healy of making defamatory comments and threatening violence against Banks.

“Ms. Banks unequivocally stands by the factual allegations and legal claims as outlined in the December 7, 2024 ⁢letter,” said Wallace Collins, Banks’ attorney, in a statement to NBC News.

The ‌online clash escalated ‌when Healy, whose ⁤account ⁢has since been deactivated, told Banks, “the women you attack seem to ⁢be culturally ⁣relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people.​ I⁣ think‌ this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but ‍everything else about you is a failure.”

Healy then threatened physical violence, stating he would “f*** you up” and “slap” anyone who insulted his fiancée, Gabbriette Bechtel.

banks responded‍ with‌ insults directed at Bechtel’s appearance and made comments about Healy’s past struggles with ⁢addiction.Healy subsequently apologized for his threats, stating, “nah I can’t‍ be saying I’m gonna hit a ​girl that’s insane I’m sorry. You just can’t keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it’s really ​hurtful gets me well defensive.”
