Azure Virtual Desktop Now Available in South Africa North: Enhanced Regional Support
Azure Virtual Desktop metadata service is now available in South Africa North. This expansion improves regional database capabilities for your organization.
We are increasing our Azure Virtual Desktop connectivity to reduce latency and enhance user experience globally. Our service is present in all Azure geographies. Organizations can now choose where to store service metadata, which helps with regulatory compliance and improves latency. You can keep your Azure Virtual Desktop host pool objects in South Africa, ensuring data stays within that region.
South Africa joins seven other supported geographies: the United States, Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia, and India.
When you deploy a host pool, South Africa North will appear as an option for storing metadata. The data for host pool objects will remain in the chosen geography, and we will replicate it to a paired region for disaster recovery.
The Azure Virtual Desktop connectivity platform provides secure access to Windows desktops and applications from our global cloud network. We aim to make Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop accessible and reliable with many options for data residency and growing Azure regions.
