Kayla Renard and Nicholas Foley were arrested after authorities discovered their eight-month-old child living in what they described as deplorable conditions. The scene included ⁣more ⁢than 40 neglected animals and widespread animal⁤ waste, ‍according to police reports.

Acting on a report from⁢ the Department of Social Services, police visited ⁢the couple’s ⁣residence on may 19. ⁤They ‌reported finding the infant in an unsafe environment ‍and promptly placed the child with a relative.

Inside the home,officers⁤ found a disturbing scene. The ​residence⁢ housed numerous animals—raccoons,dogs,cats,chickens,and rabbits—amidst widespread⁣ animal feces and waste. ⁤Among the​ deceased animals⁢ discovered was a decaying goat in the bathtub.

Police Chief Christopher Miller noted the infant was physically ‍unharmed but expressed dismay at the parents’​ apparent lack of emotion during their arrest.”They showed no emotion. ⁣No facial expressions,” ​miller said.”You’d expect some kind of​ reaction if ‍your child was being taken away and police ⁣had discovered such horrific⁢ conditions.”

Renard and Foley ‌each face charges of unlawful ⁣conduct toward a child, ill-treatment of animals, and multiple town⁣ ordinance violations.Each received a $10,000 surety ‍bond; Foley ‍posted bond‌ the next day.
