Back to School, Back to Basics: How the Law Protects You This Semester
Lu’an City Launches Law Classes for Primary and Secondary School Students
As the new school year begins, Lu’an City has launched a series of law classes for primary and secondary school students across the city. The classes aim to educate students on various aspects of the law, including network security, school bullying, and protection of minors.
Interactive and Engaging Approach
The law classes have taken a more interactive and engaging approach, moving away from traditional theoretical lectures. Instead, students are presented with vivid case interpretations and targeted case analysis. For example, Zhao Qianming, director of the Xindian Judicial Office of Huoqiu County, explained the “Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China” to students using real-life examples, such as game recharge.
Practical and Relevant Content
The content of the law classes has also become more practical and relevant to students’ lives. Yang Haiyan, from the “Liaowang” Juvenile Prosecution Studio, made a report on legal education for junior high school students, using common problems among young people, such as theft, school bullying, and fighting, as examples.
Teacher Training and Support
In addition to the law classes for students, the city has also provided training and support for teachers. Deputy principals of rule of law have conducted training sessions for faculty and staff, explaining laws and regulations clearly and providing guidance on how to teach legal and regulatory cases in the classroom.
City-Wide Initiatives
The city has also launched several initiatives to promote legal education among students. The Municipal Education and Sports Bureau held the 9th city-wide student “Learn the Constitution and Talk about the Constitution” theme speech competition, attracting extensive participation from primary and secondary school students across the city.
Statistics and Achievements
Since the “Eighth Five-Year Plan” for legal education, the city has held over 6,000 online and offline legal education campaigns, with more than 1.7 million teachers and students participating. All 734 primary and secondary schools in the city are equipped with deputy principals for law, and a total of 1,870 law teachers are deployed in primary, secondary, and high schools.
These initiatives demonstrate the city’s commitment to promoting legal education and awareness among students, and providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the law.
