Taipei, Taiwan – Taiwanese badminton champion Wang Qilin, fresh off his gold medal win at the Paris Olympics, has taken another victory – this time in love. The 29-year-old athlete proposed to his girlfriend of a year and a half, Chen Xiuan, in a romantic ceremony at the Oriental Mandarin Hotel.
Wang, known for his powerful smashes on the court, displayed a softer side as he presented Chen with a stunning 0.5-carat diamond ring.
“I’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” Wang shared, expressing his desire to start a family. “My career is going well, and now I want to build a life with the woman I love.”
Chen, visibly moved by the surprise proposal, admitted her mind went blank with happiness. “I didn’t expect this at all,” she confessed. “Meeting Wang Qilin has been a blessing. He makes me feel so secure and loved.”
The couple, who plan to tie the knot next year, have already discussed their future family. “We hope to have children,” Wang revealed, adding with a chuckle, “Maybe they’ll even become the next badminton stars!”
