Mysterious Sound Echoes in Surat Sky: No Dam Failure or Earthquake Confirmed
A loud, unexplained noise was heard in the sky of Surat Thani province, causing panic among villagers in several districts.
On September 20, 2024, a message shared on social media reported a loud noise in the area, with villagers in Phunphin district, Khiri Rat Nikhom, Ta Khun, Vibhavadi, Phanom, Wiang Sa, and Phra Saeng hearing it clearly. However, the source of the sound remained unknown.
Mr. Wirayut Khanunnil, head of Ban Ta Khun district, coordinated with Ratchaprapha Dam to investigate whether an earthquake had occurred, as some villagers suspected the loud noise might be caused by seismic activity in the area or nearby.

Mr. Songphum Phongkasitawin, Director of Ratchaprapha Dam, issued a statement on behalf of the Governor of the Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand, clarifying that the dam’s condition was stable and strong. According to the statement, no earthquakes were detected in the area, and the loud sound was not caused by a dam failure or earthquake.
