BAFTA Broadens Horizons for International Television
The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) is making a considerable shift in how it recognizes international television, a move driven by increased member engagement and a desire to celebrate its global membership. This change promises to elevate the visibility of outstanding programs from around the world.
BAFTA stated, ”We believe this change will strengthen the category and ensure the very best international programs get the recognition thay deserve.”
Beyond the international program category, BAFTA has also adjusted eligibility for its craft awards. Co-productions can now include one non-U.K. senior team member, provided that 80% of the team remains U.K.-eligible. Both ceremonies will honor programming broadcast in the U.K. between January 1st and December 31st, 2025. Get ready for a compelling new drama! Sony Sab is set to premiere “its you khushi,” an Indian adaptation of the award-winning series “Shameless,” on August 18th. This isn’t just a remake; it’s a vibrant reimagining set against the backdrop of Mumbai, India.
