Toyota Dominates⁢ First Practice at 8 Hours of Bahrain

Teh first practice session for⁤ the 8 Hours of Bahrain, a key round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC), saw ⁣Toyota lock out⁢ the top two positions. The #7 ⁢Toyota GR010 Hybrid, piloted by ​Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck ⁣de Vries, set‌ the​ fastest lap ⁢time. The #8 toyota GR010 Hybrid followed closely behind.

Alpine’s #36 A424, driven by Frédéric Makowiecki, Jules Gounon, and Mick Schumacher, secured third ​place. Porsche’s #5 963,⁢ with Julien Andlauer, ⁣Mathieu‌ Jaminet, and Laurin Heinrich‍ at the wheel, ⁢finished 10th. BMW’s best effort⁤ came from the ​#20 BMW M Hybrid V8,driven by Sheldon van ‌der Linde,René Rast,and Robin Frijns,in‌ 13th. ⁤The two cadillac V-Series.R entries from Cadillac Team JOTA concluded ⁣the ‌session in 16th and 17th⁤ positions.

LMGT3 battle Heats Up

In‍ the LMGT3 class,Ben⁣ Barker ⁢in the #77‌ Ford Mustang LMGT3 from Proton Competition ⁤set the pace early with a lap time of 2:02.681, a time that remained unchallenged throughout the session. The Ford Mustang was followed by the #87 and #78 lexus RC ‍F LMGT3 cars from Akkodis-ASP. The BMW M4 LMGT3 entries from Team WRT (#46 and #31) rounded out the top five.

Toyota’s strong ⁢performance in FP1 suggests they’ve arrived in Bahrain with a well-balanced package. Though, it’s crucial too remember this is just the first practice ​session.Track conditions will evolve, and teams will be making notable setup adjustments. The gap between Toyota‍ and Alpine is relatively small, indicating a perhaps⁣ close battle throughout the weekend. Porsche and BMW have work to do to close the gap to the frontrunners.
