Bain-de-Bretagne, France — Dimolog, the logistics arm of the Dimotrans Group, has accelerated its expansion in European e-commerce with the deployment of advanced robotics at its newly inaugurated 19,000-square-meter distribution center in Brittany. The facility, operational since March 2025, serves as a critical hub for L’Oréal’s direct-to-consumer operations across 13 European countries, including France and the United Kingdom.
State-of-the-Art Automation Boosts Capacity by 80%
The new Bain-de-Bretagne site represents a significant upgrade from Dimolog’s previous 6,000-square-meter facility in Bruz, near Rennes. The expanded center increases the company’s operational capacity by over 80%, with 9,000 square meters dedicated exclusively to L’Oréal’s e-commerce fulfillment. The facility is designed to process between 1.7 million and 2 million orders annually by the second half of 2026, a scale that includes preparations for handling UK-bound shipments following Brexit-related supply chain adjustments.

At the heart of the facility’s efficiency is its advanced automation system, supplied by Scallog. The center now operates with 58 autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) and 30 pick-and-place stations, streamlining order preparation and inventory replenishment. These technologies are integrated with light-directed picking systems, where robots deliver products directly to human operators based on real-time demand signals. The system is engineered to handle the complexities of personalized e-commerce logistics, including custom packaging and multi-brand consolidation for L’Oréal’s portfolio of 24 luxury beauty labels.
Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships
The Bain-de-Bretagne center was developed under Argan’s “AutOnom” label, a framework for high-performance, sustainable logistics real estate. The facility has achieved Breeam “Very Good” certification, reflecting its commitment to energy efficiency and reduced environmental impact. Key features include optimized thermal insulation, LED lighting and rainwater harvesting systems, aligning with Dimotrans Group’s broader corporate sustainability goals.

Laurent Parat, CEO of Dimotrans Group, emphasized the strategic importance of the new hub during its official inauguration in November 2025. The site was aging and could no longer meet the growth demands of L’Oréal or our other clients. This investment secures our position as a leader in European e-commerce logistics while supporting our ambition to double down on automation and sustainability.
The facility operates under a minimum six-year lease with Argan, the French real estate firm specializing in premium industrial spaces.
Economic and Operational Impact
The Bain-de-Bretagne center employs 100 workers, a figure expected to grow as order volumes increase. On average, the facility processes 7,000 daily e-commerce orders sourced from 130 L’Oréal-branded websites. The expansion reflects broader trends in European retail, where direct-to-consumer channels are projected to account for over 30% of beauty industry sales by 2027, according to industry analysts cited in Dimolog’s 2025 business case reports.
Dimotrans Group, headquartered in Pusignan (Rhône), reported revenues of €663 million in 2024, with projections exceeding €700 million for 2025. The group’s logistics division, Dimolog, has positioned itself as a key player in contract logistics, specializing in sectors such as aeronautics, industrial projects, and e-commerce. The Bain-de-Bretagne facility is part of a wider strategy to consolidate Dimolog’s footprint in Western Europe, following the group’s 2024 acquisition of a Belgian logistics provider and the launch of a 12,000-square-meter hub in Germany.
Future-Proofing for Cross-Border E-Commerce
The facility’s design anticipates regulatory and market shifts, particularly in post-Brexit trade. By 2026, the center will absorb UK-bound e-commerce orders previously handled through separate channels, leveraging its automation to mitigate labor shortages and customs delays. The integration of Scallog’s robotics is expected to reduce order processing times by up to 40% compared to traditional manual systems, according to internal benchmarks shared by Dimolog.

Dimolog’s investment also underscores the growing demand for “last-mile” logistics solutions in rural areas. Bain-de-Bretagne, located on the Rennes-Nantes axis, offers strategic access to major transport corridors while benefiting from Brittany’s emerging status as a logistics gateway for Atlantic Europe. The site’s proximity to the Port of Saint-Nazaire and Nantes Atlantique Airport further enhances its role as a multimodal hub for air, sea, and road freight.
Industry Recognition and Next Steps
In January 2026, Dimotrans Group received a “B” rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), recognizing its progress in sustainable logistics. The Bain-de-Bretagne facility played a pivotal role in this evaluation, with its energy-efficient design and waste-reduction initiatives cited as benchmarks for the sector. The group has committed to achieving a “B+” rating by 2028, with plans to retrofit older warehouses to meet the same standards.
Looking ahead, Dimolog is exploring partnerships with additional beauty and fashion brands seeking scalable e-commerce solutions. The company has indicated that the remaining 10,000 square meters of the Bain-de-Bretagne facility are available for new clients, with negotiations underway for sectors ranging from luxury apparel to consumer electronics. This hub is not just about L’Oréal. It’s a platform for the next generation of European e-commerce,
Parat noted during a March 2026 industry panel.
The project’s success has also drawn attention to Brittany’s logistics sector, with local officials highlighting the facility as a model for attracting high-tech industrial investments. The regional government has pledged support for similar initiatives, including tax incentives for companies adopting automation and green technologies in their supply chains.
