Australian Man Killed, Another Injured in Bali Shooting
Indonesian police are actively searching for two men suspected of fatally shooting one Australian and critically wounding another at a villa near Munggu Beach in Badung, Bali. The incident occurred at Villa Casa Santisya.
The deceased has been identified as Zivan Radmanovic, 32, from Melbourne. Sanar Ghanim, 34, also from Melbourne, is in intensive care at Sanglah hospital in Denpasar with serious injuries, according to Police Chief Arief Batubara.
Batubara confirmed Radmanovic died at the scene. The motive for the Bali shooting remains under investigation.
Authorities said five guests occupied three rooms at the villa when the shooting took place. The wives of the two victims and another foreign tourist were also present. Police recovered 17 bullet casings and two intact bullets from the bathroom where Radmanovic was shot.
Witnesses reported that two gunmen arrived on a scooter around midnight. One wore an orange jacket and a dark helmet, while the othre wore a dark green jacket, a black mask, and a dark helmet.
Gourdeas Jazmyn, 30, Radmanovic’s wife, told police she awoke to her husband’s screams and hid under a blanket during the gunfire. she later discovered her husband’s body and the injured Ghanim. Ghanim’s wife also witnessed the attackers.
A police spokesman, Ariasandy, stated that a witness overheard the pair speaking English with an Australian accent.
batubara said the Australian Consulate in Bali has been notified. An autopsy is pending family approval.
Australia’s Department of foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is providing consular assistance to the victim’s family. “We send our deepest condolences to the family at this arduous time,” a DFAT spokesperson said. “DFAT stands ready to provide consular assistance to another Australian injured in the same incident.”
