Band Aid celebrates 40th anniversary of “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” video officially released on YouTube

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, recorded on November 25th and 26th, 1984, the music video has been officially released on YouTube.
“Do They Know It’s Christmas?” was written by Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats and Midge Ure of Ultravox, and has been performed by U2’s Bono, Duran Duran, Sting, Paul Weller, Spandau Ballet and others. Participating.

In 2019, Bob Geldof and Midge Ure strongly denied rumors that they had pocketed Band Aid proceeds.
“Do They Know It’s Christmas” reached number one in the UK during Christmas week 1984 and is one of the UK’s best-selling singles of all time. The song has sold over 2 million copies and raised more than £200 million for hunger relief.
Bob Geldof and Midge Ure appeared by phone on James O’Brien’s radio show to dispute the rumors. Bob Geldof has said he hasn’t received “so much as a cup of coffee” from Band Aid, and that his income and expenditures can be confirmed by the British Charity Commission. He also stated that the income and expenditure for “Do They Know It’s Christmas” can be found on music publisher PRS.
Midge Ure said: “I understand that these days we all live in rumors and are surrounded by a sea of lies and untruths. But this opinion is nonsense. For 35 years, Bob and I have never been involved in Band Aid or gigs. -I haven’t received a single penny from Aid.”
Bob Geldof continued: “These things happen in the world of Twitter, where lies about the president of the United States are treated like truth. That needs to be corrected. I’ve been holding back on it for a while, but yesterday… I couldn’t forgive you.”
“Do They Know It’s Christmas” has been re-recorded three times by Band Aid, with 1989’s Band Aid II featuring Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan and Bros, and 2004’s Band Aid. Paul McCartney, Chris Martin, Dizzee Rascal and others are participating in 20.
