Bandcamp Bans All AI-Generated Music

Bandcamp⁢ officially prohibited the upload ⁣of music and audio created with artificial intelligence on Tuesday, ⁤January 13th, ​2026. The move aims to preserve the platform as ⁣a community focused on human-created music.

The declaration appeared‌ on ‌Reddit via Bandcamp⁣ Support, following the release of bandcamp’s 2025 year-end​ compilation. Bandcamp stated it was inspired by “the sheer quantity of human creativity and passion” displayed by artists on⁢ the platform.

The new⁢ rules center on two main prohibitions:

• Music and audio “generated ⁤wholly or in substantial part by AI” ‍is not permitted on Bandcamp.
• Using AI tools to​ imitate other artists or musical styles is strictly forbidden.
