The Department of Internal Trade (DIT) is collaborating with the thai Fresh Market Association to host the “Thai Fruits Festival 2025 by DIT.” The initiative seeks to distribute high-quality durian and encourage local consumption to support fruit prices.

Consumers examine durian on sale at a fruit festival held at Yes Bang Phli market in Samut Prakan.
Goranij Nonejuie, the DIT’s deputy director-general, stated that the department is working with Yes Bang Phli market in Samut Prakan to increase fruit consumption through the Thai Fruits Festival 2025 campaign. The goal is to maintain stable fruit prices during the eastern region’s peak harvest.
The DIT is focusing on boosting domestic consumption alongside export promotion efforts led by the Commerce Ministry. According to the DIT, approximately 840,000 tonnes of eastern region durian, about 96% of the total, has been harvested.Of this, 70-75% is destined for export, with the remainder for local markets.
Around 210,000 tonnes of eastern mangosteen have been harvested, representing 80-85% of the area’s total production. Approximately 95% of the mangosteen harvest is slated for export.
The festival offers select,high-quality durian at various price points. Promotions include a “golden minute” sale with durian at 99 baht each, along with special prices of 99 baht, 139 baht, and 199 baht per kilogram, allowing consumers to choose based on preference.
These events are taking place across 13 fresh markets in Bangkok and surrounding areas throughout the fruit harvest season.
