October Trends and Seasonal Extension
The month of October has already seen 14,263 dengue cases recorded, following a peak of 15,866 infections in September. The number of deaths in October currently stands at 55,compared to 76 in September and 39 in August,as confirmed by the DGHS.
Dengue fever is traditionally a monsoon-season illness in Bangladesh, typically peaking between June and September. However, current data indicates the disease is now spreading beyond this usual timeframe, raising concerns about prolonged transmission and the need for sustained public health interventions.
