Ian Baraclough, the former Northern Ireland manager and current sporting director at Partick Thistle, is recovering in a mauritius hospital ⁣after sustaining serious injuries in an accident. The club confirmed that Baraclough suffered “extensive back and neck injuries” while swimming during a holiday.

Immediate ⁢surgery was crucial, according to Partick Thistle, to ensure the injuries were not “life-changing.” The club⁣ anticipates Baraclough will remain in Mauritius for several weeks before returning to Scotland. A further recovery period will ‍be necesary before he⁣ can resume⁤ his​ duties ⁢at The Wyre Stadium ⁤at firhill.

Richard Beastall, chairman of​ Partick thistle, noted the severity⁤ of the situation. He said Baraclough sustained‍ broken bones in his neck and back. However, Beastall added that the swiftness of the⁢ operation and the care provided beforehand significantly improved the outcome.
