Barcelona, Bayern München and Juventus secured away victories, while Paris recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw with Arsenal and OL Lyonnes shared a scoreless result with Chelsea in Wednesday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League fixtures, uefa.com reported.
Ewa Pajor claims scoring record as Barcelona routs Roma
Poland international Ewa Pajor became the leading scorer in the Women’s Champions League group stage and league phase by netting her 18th goal in the competition during a 6-0 victory against Roma in Rome. The reigning champions opened the scoring through Caroline Graham Hansen, who netted with a solo effort before combining with Clàudia Pina to force a Shukurat Oladipo own goal. Pina added a second-half double, Graham Hansen scored her second of the match, and Pajor capped the result with a dinked finish.
Graham Hansen earned Player of the Match honors. UEFA statistics show that Graham Hansen has never lost any of the 26 Women’s Champions League matches in which she has scored, recording 24 wins and two draws.
Tatiana Pinto reaches milestone as Juventus defeats Häcken
Tatiana Pinto scored Juventus’ 100th goal in the competition to help the Italian side secure their first points of the league phase with a 3-0 win against Häcken in Gothenburg. Amaiur Sarriegi set up Pinto’s finish during a second half that also saw Emma Stølen Godø score from a looping header and Alba Redondo convert a late chance.
Cecilia Salvai received the Player of the Match award. Pinto has now scored four goals across her last four appearances in the tournament, including qualifying rounds, according to UEFA data.
Clara Mateo and Maeline Mendy inspire Paris comeback against Arsenal
Paris fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against Arsenal in Paris. Arsenal built their lead through goals from Alessia Russo, who finished a team move, and Georgia Stanway, who scored her first goal for the club either side of halftime.
Clara Mateo began the comeback in the 72nd minute by rounding goalkeeper Misa Rodríguez to score her second goal of the current tournament. Substitute Maeline Mendy then converted a late penalty to seal the draw. Stanway was named Player of the Match, while Russo’s appearance marked her 20th Champions League goal, placing her outright second among English scorers in the competition behind Fran Kirby’s 21.
