Barcelona’s Injury Woes Continue: Lopetegui Sidelined Once Again
Barcelona’s Injury Woes Continue as Fermin Lopez Suffers Fresh Muscle Injury
Barcelona’s injury troubles persist, with midfielder Fermin Lopez being the latest casualty. The 21-year-old suffered a fresh muscle injury in his right thigh during training on Tuesday.
Lopez, a key player for Spain’s squad that won the European Championships in July and a gold medalist with the Under-23 team at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, had previously injured his left hamstring muscle in September.
The Catalan side has announced that Lopez will be sidelined for approximately three weeks, dealing a significant blow to their midfield.
Lopez has been in impressive form, scoring 11 goals and providing one assist in 45 appearances for Barcelona.
The injury adds to Barcelona’s growing list of absentees, including newcomer Dani Olmo, who will be out for up to five weeks with a right hamstring muscle injury. Defenders Ronaldo, Gabi, Frenkie de Jong, Marc Bernal, Araujo, and Andreas Christensen are also currently sidelined.
Despite the setbacks, Barcelona has enjoyed a strong start to the season under new coach Hans Flick, winning all five matches and topping the league standings, four points ahead of defending champions Real Madrid.
Barcelona will look to maintain their momentum when they host French club Monaco in their first Champions League match on Thursday.
