Barco Expands HDR Cinema Experience in North America

Imaging technology firm Barco announced it is broadening the reach of its HDR by Barco technology, bringing the enhanced cinema experience to a total of 30 locations across North America by the close of 2025. This expansion aims to provide moviegoers with brighter, more vivid images through its Lightsteering technology.
Regal Cinemas will incorporate the system into an additional 20 of its RPX-branded theaters. Alamo Drafthouse, based in Texas, will also add the HDR by Barco experience to some of its locations. Specific locations have not yet been disclosed.
Currently, Cineworld Leicester Square remains the sole HDR by Barco-equipped cinema in Europe. Barco also has a partnership with Prasad Film Labs to establish IndiaS first HDR-capable color grading facility.
A slate of HDR by Barco releases is scheduled for the remainder of the year, including the currently showing “How To Train Your dragon.” Indian cinema content graded for HDR by Barco is anticipated, following the opening of the grading facility in India.
