Acorn TV has secured a deal to stream the Welsh prison⁢ drama Bariau (also⁤ known ⁤as Inside) to audiences in the​ United States, Australia, and⁣ New⁣ Zealand.​ The acquisition includes⁤ both⁣ six-episode seasons of the half-hour series, which has already gained popularity in Wales​ on S4C. The second⁤ season was released in​ April.

Bariau draws from real-life accounts of prisoners and prison guards, offering a realistic portrayal⁤ of life within a fictional Welsh prison. the drama delves into the intricate relationships between those on both sides of the law. Season two focuses on inmate Barry, played by Gwion Tegid, as he struggles to ‍maintain control amid ⁢new staff and inmates.

The⁢ series is ​a production of ​Rondo media, a Welsh self-reliant​ company. Ciron Gruffydd, known for Limbo, wrote the ‍series, while Griff Rowland (Hinterland) directed.​ APC handled the distribution and brokered the agreement with Acorn TV.The cast also features Adam Woodward (Hollyoaks), Annes elwy (Little Women), Bill Skinner (Ted Lasso), ‍Ian Puleston-Davies (Coronation Street), and Alicia Forde (Waterloo⁢ Road).
