Acorn TV has secured a deal to stream the Welsh prison drama Bariau (also known as Inside) to audiences in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. The acquisition includes both six-episode seasons of the half-hour series, which has already gained popularity in Wales on S4C. The second season was released in April.
Bariau draws from real-life accounts of prisoners and prison guards, offering a realistic portrayal of life within a fictional Welsh prison. the drama delves into the intricate relationships between those on both sides of the law. Season two focuses on inmate Barry, played by Gwion Tegid, as he struggles to maintain control amid new staff and inmates.
The series is a production of Rondo media, a Welsh self-reliant company. Ciron Gruffydd, known for Limbo, wrote the series, while Griff Rowland (Hinterland) directed.
