Bowen tabled records indicating that Taylor had previously suggested green hydrogen could provide $50 billion in additional GDP by 2050 when he was Energy Minister under the Morrison government. The Climate Change Minister also clarified that production tax credits for green hydrogen remain tied strictly to actual output, with zero payments disbursed because none has been produced.

Liberal MP for Grey Tom Venning questioned Prime Minister Anthony Albanese regarding the permanent closure of the blast furnace at the steelworks in Whyalla, South Australia, which resulted in hundreds of job losses. Venning pressed the Prime Minister on whether he would visit the affected workers before departing for New York tomorrow. Prime Minister Albanese defended the federal response, stating that his administration is engaging constructively with the South Australia government and local administrators.
