Barry Manilow, the celebrated American singer, songwriter, and musician, is continuing his recovery following recent surgery for lung cancer and has announced additional dates for what may be his farewell tour. The 82-year-old performer shared a positive health update earlier this month, reassuring fans that he is “feeling great” and progressing well in his recuperation.

The singer first revealed his diagnosis in late December, explaining that a cancerous spot was discovered on his left lung after experiencing prolonged bronchitis. He underwent surgery to remove the spot, and doctors did not believe the cancer had spread. Manilow initially postponed his February residency at the Westgate Las Vegas to focus on recovery, but has now added six new concert dates in March – Charlotte, Norfolk, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Nashville, and Lexington – signaling a strong return to the stage.

In a message posted on Instagram on January 3, Manilow expressed his enthusiasm about resuming his musical activities. “I’m feeling great… so great that I’ve decided to add six additional concerts to my existing March schedule,” he wrote. He also shared that he has been spending time in the studio, which he described as “fantastic.”

However, the announcement of these additional dates was accompanied by a poignant message that has led fans to believe these concerts could be his last. The concert announcement included the line: “Years from now, when you look back on these dates, you’ll want to know you were there to say goodbye.” This phrasing has sparked concern among his devoted fanbase, prompting many to see these upcoming shows as a final opportunity to experience his music live.

Manilow’s journey to diagnosis began after six weeks of bronchitis, followed by a five-week relapse. Despite returning to the stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, his doctor ordered an MRI “just to make sure that everything was OK.” It was this precautionary measure that led to the discovery of the cancerous spot. He credited both luck and his doctor for the early detection, emphasizing that it was “pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early.”

The news of Manilow’s health challenges and subsequent recovery has resonated deeply with fans, who have flooded social media with messages of support and well wishes. Many have shared their personal connections to his music, expressing gratitude for the decades of joy he has brought to their lives. One fan commented online, “I’ve loved you Barry for 50 years! My heart skipped a beat when I heard you were sick,” while another wrote, “So glad to see you are doing well and recuperating.”

The singer’s decision to extend his tour, even with the possibility of these being his final performances, demonstrates his dedication to his craft and his fans. He has consistently prioritized connecting with his audience through live music, and these additional dates offer a chance for more fans to experience his iconic songs, including hits like “Copacabana,” “Mandy,” and “Weekend in New England.”

Fan Club pre-sales for the newly announced concerts began on Tuesday, January 13, offering dedicated fans an early opportunity to secure tickets. The tour is scheduled to kick off at the end of February, allowing Manilow to fully focus on his recovery in the immediate future.

As of today, February 6, 2026, Barry Manilow continues to recuperate and prepare for his return to the stage. The upcoming concerts are not only a celebration of his remarkable career but also a potential farewell to a beloved artist who has touched the lives of millions.
