Guarne and La Ceja are in the process of submitting their documentation. While initial participation focuses on municipalities in the eastern and metropolitan areas, the long-term goal is to include teams from across the Antioquia region.
How the Elite Cup Will Be Played
The tournament is designed to take place between the two professional championship tournaments. This allows teams to include players from participating clubs, as well as national and international additions.
Matches will be scheduled with home and away games, allowing each participant to host games. A primary objective of the initiative is to foster interest in basketball among young people, encouraging early growth and training.
Initially, the league will be for male teams, but there are plans to perhaps include a women’s league. If enough teams register, it could begin as early as this year.
