The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced the Class of 2026 on April 4, 2026, naming nine new inductees to be honored for their contributions to the sport. The announcement took place in Indianapolis, the host city for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Final Four, and was broadcast live on ESPN2.
The 2026 class consists of four players, three coaches, one team, and one referee. These inductees will be officially enshrined during festivities held on August 14-15 in Springfield, Massachusetts, and at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
North American Committee Inductees
The North American Committee has elected four individuals to the 2026 class. Among them is Amar’e Stoudemire, the sole men’s player being inducted this year. Stoudemire was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2002 NBA Draft and spent a significant portion of his career with the Phoenix Suns, where he was a key member of the Seven Seconds or Less
era and a five-time All-Star. He later played for the New York Knicks, earning one additional All-Star selection, and finished his NBA career with the Miami Heat in 2016 before playing internationally.

The committee also recognized two coaches and one official. Doc Rivers, who is currently in his third season as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, is being inducted for his coaching achievements. Rivers is the sixth-winningest regular-season coach in history with 1,191 wins and led the Boston Celtics to a championship in 2008.
Joining Rivers as a coaching inductee is Mark Few of Gonzaga. Joey Crawford, a longtime NBA official, has been inducted for his four decades of service as a referee.
Women’s Committee and Contributors
The Women’s Committee has elected four entries for the Class of 2026, including three individual players and one national team. The individual inductees are Candace Parker, Elena Delle Donne, and Chamique Holdsclaw.
The committee also elected the 1996 United States Women’s National Team. This team won gold at the Atlanta Olympics with an 8-0 record and an average margin of victory exceeding 30 points. The roster featured notable stars including Dawn Staley, Sheryl Swoopes, and Rebecca Lobo.
The Contributors Committee has added Mike D’Antoni to the Hall of Fame, recognizing his impact on the game as a visionary.
Institutional Perspective
John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, described the 2026 class as a group reflecting the best of the sport.
John L. Doleva
From a referee who set the standard over four decades, to coaches who built dynasties at every level, to players who redefined their positions, to a visionary who changed how the game is played — and a women’s class headlined by a national team that helped launch an entire league, alongside three of the most accomplished players the women’s game has ever seen — we are honored to welcome them to Springfield.
