DC Comics has unveiled an exciting new direction for the iconic comic series Batman. The company announced a surprise new issue, Batman #1, set to launch in September. This refreshed series is a collaborative effort between writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jiménez, alongside colorist Tomeu Morey and letterer Clayton Cowles.

For Fraction, the new series is a homecoming of sorts. He says: “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read.”

The reboot marks only the fourth renumbering in the Batman series’ 85-year history. The series aims to redefine Gotham City with a new visual identity, while the intricate comic pages are getting a fresh update inspired by both classic and modern aesthetics.
