Alita: Battle Angel Manga Continues with new Volume
In the lawless settlement of Scrapyard, beneath the space city of Zalem, cyber-doctor Daisuke Ido discovers the detached head of a cyborg woman with no memories. He repairs and outfits her with a powerful body, and she adopts the name Alita. This warrior embarks on a journey to reclaim her past while battling hazardous cybernetic foes, mastering the Panzer Kunst martial arts and becoming a hunter-killer mercenary to aid those in need.
Creator Yukito Kishiro revisited Battle angel Alita in 2000 with the “Last Order” arc, which concluded in 2014 after 19 volumes. The first 15 volumes are collected in five paperback omnibuses, though the final four volumes are harder to find in physical format. However, they are available on Kindle for $7 each.
As 2014, kishiro has been working on a third arc, “Mars Chronicle.” Volume 11 in the series, Battle Angel Alita: Mars Chronicle Vol. 1, releases in English on February 10. Fans can preorder it now at Amazon for $11. Most volumes in the “Mars Chronicle” arc remain in print in paperback, though some are currently only available from resellers at inflated prices.

Adapting battle Angel Alita to film was a long-held ambition of James Cameron, the director behind hits like Terminator 2, True Lies, Titanic, and the Avatar franchise. Though Cameron spent years trying to launch the project, Robert Rodriguez ultimately directed the 2019 film, Alita: Battle Angel, with Cameron as a producer and co-writer. The film, starring Rose Salazar, is a strong adaptation and well worth watching alongside the manga.
Alita: Battle angel is currently available for purchase on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray, and DVD at affordable prices. The 4K Blu-ray edition costs $18, while the 1080p Blu-ray is $10.
