latvia’s Olympic Committee has approved the largest Olympic delegation in the country’s history – 65 athletes.
The athletes will represent Latvia in nine sports at the Milan-Cortina Winter olympic Games. Among them are two athletes from the Bauska region – bobsleigh brothers Lauris and Dāvis Kaufmanis.
Olympic qualification concluded on January 18th.Nine bobsleigh athletes will travel to the Olympics – pilots Kalenda and Grantiņš, push athletes Matīss miknis, Lauris Kaufmanis, Mairis Kļava, Arnis bebrišs, Dāvis Kaufmanis, edgars Ungurs, and Edgars Nemme as a reserve.
Brothers Lauris and Dāvis Kaufmanis were once known as students of the Bauska region Children and Youth Sports School’s athletics department,achieving success in both individual disciplines and combined events. Their interest in bobsleigh began during their university years, and this year it has led them to the Olympic Games.
