The confirmation comes after VfB Stuttgart secured their place in the final with a 2-1 victory over SC Freiburg in extra time. Substitute Tiago Tomás scored the winning goal in the 119th minute to send Stuttgart through.
This will be the fourth encounter between the two teams this season. Bayern Munich previously won the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Stuttgart with a 2-1 victory in August. They followed that up with Bundesliga wins of 5-0 in Stuttgart and 4-2 in Munich.
VfB Stuttgart head coach Sebastian Hoeneß will lead his team into the final. SC Freiburg took an early lead in the semi-final through Maximilian Eggestein in the 28th minute, but Stuttgart responded with goals from Deniz Undav and the late winner from Tomás to advance.
The DFB-Pokal final will be held in Berlin as per the competition’s traditional venue for the showpiece event. Both clubs have already met three times this season across all competitions, with Bayern holding the advantage in each encounter.
