Bayern Munich vs RB Leipzig: Match Awards & Highlights
## Bayern Munich Match Awards: 6-0 Demolition of RB Leipzig
Bayern Munich delivered a stunning 6-0 victory over RB Leipzig, a performance brimming with individual brilliance and tactical innovation. Here’s a breakdown of the standout performers from the match.
### The Architect – Joshua Kimmich
Joshua Kimmich was the heartbeat of Bayern’s midfield, dictating play with his extraordinary passing range and vision. Playing in a slightly deeper role than usual, he orchestrated attacks with pinpoint accuracy, effectively acting as a deep-lying playmaker. He possesses a bird’s eye view of the game, enabling him to pick out the best targets for passes. In essence, he performs the role the German was supposed to do in midfield, but from a slightly different position. And truly, it doesn’t matter where he does it from because he looks absolutely terrific.
Aleksander Pavlović also looked solid in his stint replacing Goretzka. The injury doesn’t seem to have taken too much of a toll on him.
### Der Bomber – Serge Gnabry
As fantastic as Luis Díaz and Michael Olise were, and even with lennart Karl all set to shine and shock, the true shock of the night was a reborn man in Serge Gnabry.
After being heavily criticized nearly all season for underdelivering, Gnabry rose from the ashes with an amazing performance. He played a truly unselfish game, no longer attempting shots from bizarre, unsuitable positions. Every pass found the right player to progress the ball in the final third, and it was shocking to see him fighting for possession and initiating counters.
Olise had a phenomenal game with a brace, and Díaz was terrific, scoring his second goal with Bayern, but Gnabry’s motto this season seems to be *From death, life*. And we are all here for it.
### Meister of the Match – harry Kane
Writing about Bayern doesn’t get any more tough. Following incredible performances from nearly every player on the pitch, choosing one standout is challenging, but tonight, there is only one option for Man of the Match.
Kane bagged a perfect hattrick – goals in the 64th, 74th, and 77th minutes. His performance deserves its own detailed discussion, but for now, we’ll scratch the surface.
All game, Kane played from much deeper than the rest of the attack. The most advanced positions were generally held by Olise and Díaz, followed by laimer, Gnabry, and Stanišić. Then came Kane and Goretzka. The English skipper played as deep as a #6 would, far deeper than a striker typically positions himself, and the furthest he’s ever played in a game. While this seemed bizarre, it made more sense as the game progressed.
The midfield battles were constantly fought by the striker, who seemed hell-bent on proving he could play attack, midfield, or defense. *Hand him the gloves, he might even steal Neuer’s job!*
He constantly ensured the ball reached those in the flanks while remaining in a seemingly latent position. But this notion of latency changed as he began scoring. The first goal in the 64th minute was a terrific right-foot shot after escaping his defender. Secondly, at the 74th, he lost his marker, found Díaz’s ball, and sent it bottom corner from outside the box – a goal with a shocking 3% probability. And of course, he had to prove his left foot was just as good with that third goal.
Kane is easily among the best strikers Bayern has had, considering his composure, comfort scoring from virtually anywhere, and most importantly, his eye for the ball. A partnership is building with Díaz, and the duo might just win a Champions League trophy if all goes well this season.
