Bayern Munich’s Expensive Midfielder Palinha Struggles to Find Playing Time
Bayern Munich’s midfielder Palinha, who was signed for 51 million euros, is struggling to find playing time. According to German media outlet Web, Palinha has only appeared as a substitute in three games at the beginning of this season.
Palinha made his Bayern Munich home debut on September 2nd as a substitute in the second half of the match against Freiburg. However, he conceded a penalty kick along with a handball foul in the second half’s added time. Freiburg’s penalty kick taker, Holler, shot over the crossbar, but Palinha invited a critical crisis.
Bayern Munich coach Kompany explained Palinha’s omission from the starting lineup against Freiburg, saying, “Pavlovic and Kimmich often play and train together. It was a decision for the team.” However, he also added, “We will need all our players going forward. It is good for us that all our players get playing time this season.”
Bayern Munich won 2-0 against Freiburg in the 2nd round of the 2024-25 Bundesliga season at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on September 2nd. Bayern Munich’s Kim Min-jae played the full match and played a key role in keeping a clean sheet.
Bayern Munich started with Kane as the striker in the match against Freiburg, with Tell, Musiala, Olisse, and Gnabry leading the attack. Pavlovic coordinated the team play, while Guerreiro, Kim Min-jae, Upamecano, and Kimmich formed the defense. Neuer guarded the goal.
In a match between the two teams, Bayern Munich opened the scoring with a penalty kick by Kane in the 38th minute of the first half. Freiburg defender Rosenfelder committed a handball foul while Kane was heading the ball, and the referee awarded a penalty kick after a video review (VAR).
Bayern Munich, who finished ahead in the first half, scored an equalizer through Muller in the 33rd minute of the second half. Muller received a lobbed pass from Gnabry in the penalty area, and after a sensational touch, shook the Freiburg goal with a left-footed shot.
Bayern Munich conceded a penalty kick in the second half of extra time due to a handball by Palinha, but Freiburg’s Holler, who stepped up to take the kick, fired a right-footed shot over the crossbar, ending the game with a victory for Bayern Munich.
