Baystate wing Hospital in Palmer is hosting a Baystate Health blood drive on Wednesday, June 11, from 8:30 a.m.to 2 p.m.in the Snow Conference Room. the community is encouraged to participate in this vital effort to boost the local blood supply.
Nicole VanZandt, supervisor of BRL Blood Donor Services, emphasized the ongoing critical need for blood donations. She noted that blood donated to Baystate Health remains within local communities, ensuring a safe and reliable supply for those in need. The blood drive offers an opportunity for residents to give back and perhaps save lives through blood donation.
A blood donation takes about an hour, including a brief interview, the donation itself, and a short refreshment period. Potential donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, present a photo ID, and be in good health, free from colds or sore throats. Individuals must also wait eight weeks between donations.
All eligible donors will receive a $10 gift card as a thank you for their contribution.
