Banco do Brasil, in partnership with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise and Small Business (Memp), launched the MEI Card, specifically aimed at individual micro-entrepreneurs (MEIs).
Benefits include the offer of zero annual fees and installment payments for purchases. The card will work in debit and credit mode, it has QR Code access to data and services on the Entrepreneur Portal, access to an engagement and training platform.
“Currently these entrepreneurs are responsible for 70% of the jobs created last year and this year”, highlighted the minister Márcio Franca, from Memp, during the launch event of the new card, in Brazil.
About 15.7 million MEIs are currently active in Brazil. According to the minister, the MEI Card will also give dignity to micro-entrepreneurs, as it will be a way to identify their registration and regulated activities, especially those who make a living from street trade. “The person will have the opportunity to show their card and they will be identified”, he explained.
