Berlin, February 13, 2026 – Berlin-based beverage producer Roy Kombucha has been acquired by BRLO, a popular independent craft brewery and gastronomy company, according to a statement released today by international law firm BCLP, which advised Roy Kombucha on the deal. The acquisition, finalized on February 1, 2026, marks a significant expansion for BRLO into the non-alcoholic beverage market and consolidates a two-year partnership between the two Berlin-based companies.

Roy Kombucha, founded in late 2019, specializes in tea-based kombucha beverages, distributing its products across Germany and internationally to over 20 export partners. The company reported approximately 50% volume growth in 2025 and maintains a distribution network of around 800 points of sale within Germany, demonstrating its increasing prominence in the European kombucha market. The acquisition will see Roy Kombucha operate as part of the BRLO group while retaining its brand identity and positioning.

The move is part of a broader trend within the beverage industry, as established breweries seek to diversify their portfolios and cater to growing consumer demand for non-alcoholic and health-conscious options. BRLO, founded in 2014, has already signaled its commitment to this segment, and the acquisition of Roy Kombucha is presented as a strategic step to further strengthen its position.

The collaboration between BRLO and Roy Kombucha began in 2024, when Roy Kombucha began utilizing BRLO’s production facility in Berlin-Spandau for brewing and bottling. This initial partnership allowed for increasing integration of production processes, laying the groundwork for the full acquisition. According to a statement from BRLO, the integration is expected to unlock further synergies in both production and distribution, leveraging the respective competencies of each company.

Fabio Carlucci, founder of Roy Kombucha, will remain with the company following the acquisition, assuming responsibility for the brand’s management and strategic development within the BRLO group. Carlucci emphasized the importance of preserving the core values of Roy Kombucha – quality, sustainability, and innovation – while accelerating market development through the partnership with BRLO.

Katharina Kurz, co-founder and managing director of BRLO, stated that the integration is driven by clear synergies and will allow the company to reach new consumer groups in the rapidly expanding market for alcohol-free and conscious beverages. This suggests a deliberate strategy by BRLO to capitalize on shifting consumer preferences and tap into a growing segment of the market.

The legal team from BCLP, led by Dr. Albrecht von Breitenbuch, Valeria Podmogilni, Dr. Julia Schweitzer, Dr. Kristin Frohne, Dominik Weiss, and Christian Spatz, advised Roy Kombucha and Carlucci throughout the entire process, from the company’s formation to the completion of the sale. Their involvement highlights the increasing complexity of transactions within the beverage industry and the need for specialized legal counsel.

The acquisition of Roy Kombucha by BRLO reflects a broader trend of consolidation within the kombucha market, as larger companies seek to acquire established brands with strong market presence. While the kombucha market remains relatively fragmented, with numerous smaller players, the acquisition suggests a move towards greater concentration and competition from established beverage companies. The deal also underscores the growing appeal of kombucha as a healthy and refreshing alternative to traditional sugary drinks, attracting investment from both established breweries and private equity firms.

The long-term implications of the acquisition remain to be seen, but it is likely to result in increased distribution and marketing support for Roy Kombucha, potentially accelerating its growth and expanding its reach beyond its current markets. The integration of production processes is also expected to lead to cost savings and efficiencies, further enhancing the competitiveness of both brands. The success of the acquisition will ultimately depend on BRLO’s ability to effectively integrate Roy Kombucha into its existing operations while preserving the brand’s unique identity and appeal.

The transaction highlights the dynamism of Berlin’s beverage scene, with both BRLO and Roy Kombucha emerging as key players in the craft beer and kombucha markets, respectively. The acquisition is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit of the city and its ability to foster innovation within the food and beverage industry.
