Turkish duo Ozdemir & Kuru Claim Gold at Balikesir Futures
Yusuf Ozdemir and Batuhan Kuru of Turkiye thrilled their home crowd by winning the gold medal at the Balikesir Futures beach volleyball tournament on November 26, 2024. This marks their first medal on the Beach Pro Tour, achieved after a grueling run through five matches, including navigating five tie-breaker sets.
Dramatic Final Against Latvian Challengers
The fourth-seeded Turkish pair secured their championship with a 2-1 (17-21, 21-14, 16-14) victory over fellow Latvians Ardis Bedritis and Arturs Rinkevics in a tightly contested final.Prior to the final,Ozdemir & Kuru overcame ninth-seeded qualifiers olivers Bulgacs & Markuss Graudins in the semifinals,winning 2-1 (21-19,25-27,15-7).
latvian Success and Ukrainian Breakthrough
Despite falling short in the final, Bedritis & Rinkevics, the seventh seed, enjoyed a strong tournament, winning all four of their matches leading up to the gold medal match. They previously defeated Oleksii Bublyk & Ivan Datsiuk of Ukraine 2-0 (21-15, 22-20) in the semifinals, earning their fourth Beach Pro Tour medal.
Bublyk and Datsiuk, who entered the tournament as 11th seeds, rebounded from their semifinal loss to claim the bronze medal. They defeated Bulgacs & Graudins 2-0 (21-18, 21-9), marking their first podium finish as a duo on the Beach Pro Tour.
