Tadhg Beirne, Aoife Dalton honored at Rugby Player Ireland Awards

Tadhg Beirne of Munster and Aoife Dalton have been named the Men’s and Women’s Rugby Player Ireland of the Year, respectively. The awards recognize their outstanding contributions to rugby.Beirne, currently in South Africa with Munster, expressed surprise and gratitude for the honour, especially considering the strong performances of fellow nominees Caelan Doris, Tom Farrell, and Jamison Gibson-Park.
Dalton, age 22, was recognized for her impactful performance at center, surpassing Dorothy Wall, Amee-Leigh Costigan, and Niamh O’Dowd for the OCC Consulting Women’s XVs Players’ Player of the Year award. She is expected to play a key role for ireland at the upcoming Rugby World Cup in England.
Andy Sheehan received the MSL Mercedes-Benz Ballsbridge Men’s XVs Try of the Year for his powerful try against England. Anna McGann secured the AIB Corporate Banking Women’s XVs Try of the Year for her try against Italy in the six Nations.
Sam Prendergast of Leinster and Ireland, was named the Nevin Spence Men’s XVs Young Player of the Year. his brother Cian Prendergast, a previous winner, presented the award. Erin King, sidelined for the Rugby World Cup due to injury, was voted Energia women’s XVs Young Player of the Year by her teammates, adding to her previous World rugby Breakthrough Player of the Year award.
Dylan O’Grady and Lucinda kinghan were named TritonLake Men’s and Women’s 7s Players’ Player of the Year, respectively. Ireland’s triple Crown success was recognized as the Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort Moment of the Year, with Caelan Doris accepting the award on behalf of the team.
Eimear Considine, who retired this season after returning to international play following ACL injuries and the birth of her son, received the Zurich Contribution to Irish Society Award for her sporting legacy and contributions to mental wellbeing discourse.
