Beirut Under Fire: Israel Launches Daring Strike on Hezbollah HQ, Nasrallah’s Fate Hangs in Balance
Israel Launches Airstrike on Hezbollah Headquarters in Beirut
Israel carried out a precision air strike on September 27, targeting Hassan Nasrallah, the head of the pro-Iranian Lebanese Hezbollah faction. According to a Hezbollah official, Nasrallah is alive.
The Israeli army announced that the airstrike targeted Hezbollah’s central command center, located deep inside a civilian residential building in central Beirut’s Dahiyeh neighborhood. Maj Gen. Daniel Hagiri, Israel’s chief military spokesman, confirmed the strike.
Hezbollah’s broadcasting station, Al-Manar TV, reported that the Israeli airstrikes destroyed four buildings and caused many casualties. Foreign media described the attack as the most powerful against Beirut since the Israel-Hezbollah war in 2006.
The airstrike was reportedly carried out to eliminate Nasrallah after his location was discovered. However, Hezbollah claimed that Nasrallah was safe, and Iran’s Tasnim news agency also reported that he was unharmed.
The airstrike occurred immediately after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu finished his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, USA.
